Company report
Summary of Results
Absolute results remain low overall and ERG’s results are mostly limited to its formal commitments, for example on preventing bribery and corruption, and ensuring safe and healthy working conditions. Other areas which contributed to ERG’s overall results include for example its relatively strong disclosure of serious injuries and safety incidents and its disclosure of its ultimate beneficial owners.
In the mine-site assessment, ERG is among the six companies with the weakest results, showing an average mine-site-level score of 0%.
ERG’s results in the company-wide assessment are below the average across all 38 companies in all six thematic areas, and the company’s general results are limited by a lack of evidence of action on a number of key issues. For example, while ERG has made a formal commitment to respect human rights, it shows no evidence of tracking its performance on managing human rights issues. ERG also shows no evidence of efforts to ensure gender balance on its Board and in its senior management, or ensure its operations plan for post-closure transition for workers and communities. In addition, there is no evidence of ERG publicly disclosing information on the location and safety of its tailings storage facilities.
Moreover, the overall results of the five ERG mine sites assessed in the mine-site assessment are strikingly weak. With the exception of limited evidence from one mine site on its worker grievance mechanism, none of these five mine sites show any relevant evidence on any of the ten issues covered in the mine-site assessment.
